So, I must ask....who turned that darn air conditioner on again?  You know, that one that consistently blows across the Sound at about 20 knots and freezes me down to the bone.  Ok, maybe it's not an air conditioner, it's just mother nature having fun watching my teeth chattering as I sit out in a small, open boat and practice docking maneuvers over and over again until I can't feel my fingers anymore.  Anyway, spent today working on the small boats again.  As always, we had lots of fun because we were actually out on the water instead of a classroom.  It was, however, a whole heck of a lot colder today than last week.  I was very happy that my new flannel-lined jeans had come in the mail on Friday as the flannel really cuts down the wind from going right through the legs of my pants.  Of course, the three other layers I was wearing helped too.

Our week also consisted of a First Aid/CPR course.  I'm not sure, but it appeared that I may have been the only one to not have had prior certification.  So, I'm glad I have that under my belt now.  We also went over such subjects as tides, currents, some more rules of the road, VHF communication and the nerve-racking Radar lab exam.  Couldn't believe it (had to even ask the guy standing next to me whether my score was passing or not), but actually passed the exam.  And finally, Friday was spent going over procedures for our first King's Pointer trip this upcoming Monday.  Unfortunately, the wind is supposed to be up on Monday, so we're not sure if we're actually going to be able to leave or not as the harbor entrance is really small and the captain will not leave if the wind is high.  So, we'll see.  I hope we do get to go because I really need to get out there on the water.

Anyway, enjoy the pics.  Hopefully, next week, I'll have pictures of the King's Pointer trip.

Chris in the Radar Lab.  As you can see, the radar units were quite old.  I had always wondered what a grease pencil was....now I know.

Caryn having some fun plotting next weeks course.

Here is a nice shot of the small harbor we have been practicing our docking skills.  You can see the King's Pointer the right and a bunch of small sailboats (FJ's or 420's...can't remember which is which presently) that a few of us really want to take out sailing this spring. *Photo by Matt

This is one of the boats we were using this weekend for small boat handling.  Really easy to maneuver with the twin engines.  That's me walking on the aft deck.  You can always tell which one I am because I look like a big blue snowman with 8 layers on.  Hehe!! *Photo by JT

Here's a good one of Megan behind the helm of Goose. Looks like she's having fun. *Photo by JT

All is well aboard this launch according to Carl. *Photo by JT
